FHA Announces Higher Insurance Premiums
In a move to bolster its capital reserves, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) is making changes including increasing the annual mortgage insurance premium and requiring borrowers to pay the premiums for the life of the mortgage. Read more about the changes.

RealtyTrac: Chicago Makes List of Best Places to Buy a Foreclosure
Chicago is one of the 20 best metro areas to find a foreclosure deal, according to RealtyTrac, which compiled the list based on foreclosure supply, discounted foreclosure prices and increased foreclosure activity.

REALTORS® Help Block Cumbersome Asbestos Policy 
IAR joined with other trade associations to oppose confusing asbestos abatement regulations that would have hurt business. The proposed rules will be withdrawn. Read more in State Capitol Report (login required).

RVOICE, REALTORS® Work to Pass Residential Quality Support Rules in Rockford
Rockford alderman and REALTOR® Carl Wasco was the lead sponsor of a REALTOR®-supported local ordinance that aims to improve communication between the city and landlords and increase accountability for those causing nuisance activities on properties. Read more.

REALTOR® Advocacy Squashes Fast-Track Pace of Chicago Bedbug Ordinance
IAR GAD Brian Bernardoni testified before a Chicago City Council joint committee as part of a discussion of a proposed penalty for landlords who fail to eliminate bedbugs. A more equitable bedbug ordinance that won't hurt REALTORS®, property owners and tenants is being sought.

IAR has prepared an at-a-glance chart for CE requirements for this renewal period, and the 12-hour interactive/classroom Broker Management CE classes (required only if you transitioned your license by Proficiency Exam) are being scheduled at IAR branch locations statewide. Learn more.

Took the Broker Management CE Class by Mistake?
While the 12 hours will not count toward the next Managing Broker license renewal cycle, they will count as 12 elective CE hours if you still need elective credits. Learn more
