SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Association of REALTORS® has named Kristen Butcher as director of professional development.
Butcher, 42, will oversee IAR’s events and education programs for its 41,000 members. She begins on Dec. 16. She replaces Wayne Edwards, CAE, who retires from IAR after 33 years of service.
A Midwest native, Butcher most recently worked as director of sales and catering at the Hilton Springfield, a position she had held since 2003. She joined the Hilton as a director of sales in 2001.
Butcher previously worked for the Illinois Association of Park Districts in Springfield as educational services director.
Butcher holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University. She holds the Certified Meeting Professional designation.
A member of the Illinois Society of Association Executives, Butcher was awarded the organization’s Rising Star Award in 1997. She is also a member of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, and is a committee member for the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb and Downtown Springfield, Inc.
Butcher and her husband, Joe, have two children and live in Springfield.
