NAR: Pending Home Sales Slip Slightly in July

The Pending Home Sales Index fell 1.3 percent in July compared to June but remained 6.7 percent higher than a year ago, NAR reports. Higher mortgage rates and prices are beginning to have an impact on pending home sales on higher-priced housing markets in the Northeast and West, but are not showing a slowdown in the Midwest and South, said NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. 

NAR: Proposed QRM Revisions a Victory for Homebuyers and REALTORS®

Proposed changes to the Qualified Residential Mortgage rule will strengthen the mortgage market and protect consumers while lifting unnecessary restrictions, according to NAR. "We applaud (federal) regulators for removing the 20 percent down payment requirement and for adopting reasonable credit and debt-to-income standards," said NAR President Gary Thomas. Read his statement on the issue.
