A real estate career through the GI Bill

You served your country, now let us serve you

Veterans who want to start a career in real estate can now do so with their GI Bill® benefits through real estate schools licensed by Illinois REALTORS®.

GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government web site at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/.

Here’s how it works:
The GI Bill® benefits will only apply to LIVE Pre-License courses (classroom only - excludes webinars). Member associations and education partners who conduct live classes with Illinois REALTORS® Licensing & Training Center may participate.

Under the guidelines, a qualified veteran pays all course costs upfront to the branch providing the live training. The branch partner sends the Request for Veterans Benefits form to education@illinoisrealtors.org, which applies to the government for the reimbursement. Please note, it is up to the Department of Veterans Affairs whether or not the Veteran qualifies for the GI Bill® benefit.
  • Who’s eligible: Anyone who started their coursework after July 1, 2014. Those participating must meet guidelines for the GI Bill®. (Participants can call  (888) 442-4551 to learn if they qualify.)
  • Who can provide training? Illinois REALTORS® Licensing & Training Center has more than 65 branches statewide. Check our Pre-License Class Calendar for dates and locations.

For real estate branches:
If you have an applicant seeking real estate training through the GI Bill®, download and complete this form and email it to education@illinoisrealtors.org. Illinois REALTORS® will apply for the reimbursement and if the veteran is eligible, he or she will receive the reimbursement through the training center. Branches with questions about the program can call the Illinois REALTORS® Licensing & Training Center at (217) 529-2600 or email us at education@illinoisrealtors.org
